The second meeting of banks, regarding electronic commerce and economy development roadmap

4/25/2013

Concerning the development of electronic commerce and economy roadmap, the second meeting with banks and financial institutions representatives was held in deputy of information technology and e-commerce development, ministry of industry, mine and trade on April 24, 2013. The banks and financial institutions representatives attended this meeting.

At first, Mr. Paryab, the project manager of developing electronic commerce and economy roadmap, briefly mentioned the issues were discussed on previous meeting and pointed out the ideas and comments provided by banks. Then the audiences were asked to talk about the required projects in this area and also the obstacles and problems in developing e-banking, so that to avoid parallel working and also finding solutions to resolve the problems.

Then, the received comments by banks were reviewed and discussed. The necessity of attention to core banking was one of the most important issues emphasized by banks representatives. In this regard, some representatives noted that core banking should be the main priority in banking systems and pointed out the problems banks have been confronted.

The necessity of integrating electronic banking projects was another issue discussed on this meeting. In this regard, it was suggested that all banks provide their documents and projects to specialized committee of roadmap so that the necessary actions for integration to be taken.

The necessity of developing quantitative indicators to evaluate e-banking was also suggested by banks representatives. Concerning this issue, Mr. paryab suggested to form a specialized work group, to define the quantitative indicators of electronic banking.

Some other topics were discussed and reviewed were as follow:

Ø  Establishing an organization to standardize and validate all procedures and processes of e-commerce especially e-banking

Ø  Necessity of paying attention to corporate banking, since this issue has received little attention in Iran

Ø  The necessity of attention to the role of central banks in meeting the requirements and also avoiding parallel working

Ø  The necessity of prioritization of projects

Ø  Providing the possibility of banking payments in future

Ø  Considering privacy in e-payments

At the end, the audiences were asked to send their comments and ideas to committee of developing electronic commerce and economy roadmap by April 28, 2013.

This meeting lasted 2.5 hours and ended at 11.30 Am.
