The second meeting of insurance companies' representatives, regarding the roadmap of electronic commerce and economy was held

The second meeting of insurance companies' representatives regarding the roadmap of electronic commerce and economy was held in deputy of information technology and e-commerce development, ministry of industry, mine and trade on April 15,2013.

At first, Mr. Paryab, the project manager of developing electronic commerce and economy roadmap, briefly mentioned the issues were discussed on previous meeting and pointed out the ideas and comments of insurance companies. Then the audiences were asked to talk about the required projects in this area and also the obstacles and problems in developing modern and electronic insurance, so that to avoid parallel working and also finding solutions to resolve the problems.

The main points mentioned by Razi insurance company were as follow:

  • Denial of e-insurance policies by police and their lack of trust to them

  • Relationship between organizations to acquire the required data instead of aggregating datawhich has led to fraud in insurance policies due to lack of standard data

Pasargad insurance representative asked a question regarding the execution guarantee of electronic commerce and economy roadmap. In response, Mr. paryab emphasized on support of government senior managers and explained about the approval process.

Then the representative of agricultural insurance fund pointed to the smallness Iran insurance industry and its 1/5% share in country gross domestic product in comparison with 15% share of this industry in Japan GDP and 10% share of this industry in South Korea GDP. Setting premium rates by authorities and non-interference of insurance company in this matter, was mentioned as the main reason by him. To increase penetration rates in Iran, the governments should provide subsidized insurance to all citizens, he suggested. Whereby, people will be encouraged to use different insurance policies, to deal with a variety of natural and unnatural hazards.

Also, the representative of agricultural insurance fund noted that most of the insured in this company, are villagers and the main problems are the lack of network infrastructure and access to internet which leads to impossibility of providing insurance policies on-site. To solve this problem, using the free capacity of Shebab network of ministry of mine, industry and trade to access network and internet, was suggested by him.

One of the issues, all representatives agreed as the most important problem of insurance industry, was the lack of standardized data to share information. They said that Iran insurance company effort has been without any results in this regard. They believed that this is the responsibility of central insurance co. to make insurance companies toward having a same language.

At the end, the audiences were asked to send the comments and ideas to committee of developing electronic commerce and economy roadmap.

This meeting lasted 2 hours and ended at 11 AM.
