5/12/2013

A press conference, concerning the 7th national and 1st international on electronic commerce and economy, was held in deputy of information technology and e-commerce development, ministry of industry, mine and trade on 12 May 2013. This press conference was attended by Mr. Mofateh, Executive deputy minister and deputy minister of IT and e-commerce in ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Mr. Hakim Javadi, deputy minister of ICT & chairman of ICT organization and some of the news reporters of medias and press.
At the beginning of this press conference, Mr. Paryab, the secretary general of the 7th national and 1st international conference on electronic commerce and economy and the secretary general of Iranian e-commerce scientific association talked about the objectives of holding this conference and said that the 7th conference will be held in the following of previous conferences.
Then, concerning the importance of electronic commerce and economy in Iran, Mr. Mofateh described the process of holding the seven conferences as follow: the first five conferences aimed at culture making and culture transmission of using e-commerce in our country. Its main audiences were economic activists and government officials.
He also added that in the 6th conference, the infrastructures were analyzed and the obstacles of e-commerce and e-government were reviewed and the strategies to remove these obstacles were addressed and infrastructure sectors were divided into 7 main topics. The main audiences of the 6th conference were public managers and this conference was held under the supervision of Fava management working group. After the 6th conference, a series of meetings were held and experts' opinions were collected to develop the roadmap of electronic commerce and economy. This roadmap will be unveiled at the 7th conference. Also he reported that the indicators of electronic commerce and economy will be unveiled in the mentioned conference. Mr. mofateh said that this conference will focus on both national and international aspects and stated that on national level, culture making and reviewing the infrastructures of electronic commerce and economy will be addressed. On international level also the experience of successful countries on electronic commerce and economy has been considered. So the 7th national will be the first international conference on e-commerce in our country. In response to one the reporters, he emphasized that because of the government intervention in the infrastructure sectors, all executive tasks on e-commerce are accomplished by the private sector.
Next, Mr. Hakim Javadi stated that involving the relevant organizations in this conference was suggested by the deputy of information technology development and said that e-health, e-commerce, e-banking, e-learning and etc. are constitutions of the puzzle of making an integrated document to form e-government.
He added that e-commerce development has been remarkable in our country and now 142 million credit cards are active in Iran which means that on average each person has 1/8 credit card. Since there are 24 million households in Iran, each of them has 4/3 credit cards. The  chairman of ICT organization also stated that based on a research has been done on ICT organization, e-commerce accounted for 18% of Iran GDP by June 2011. He also said that investment on converting the 80% circulating money into electronic money and starting up of the forth operator are included in the fifth development plan.
At the end, Mr. Paryab noted that the first five conferences were aimed at culture making and informing and on the sixth conference we have sought to identify obstacles and problems and making solutions. But the missing link of innovation and application still exist in e-commerce. In order to cover this weak point, a specialized panel concerning e-insurance will be held on the 7th conference. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding is going to be signed between insurance research center and Iranian e-commerce scientific association. We hope to be able to provide the achievements on the 8th conference.
He said that considering the importance of electronic commerce and economy in all economical activities of country, a specialized panel on e-health will be held. Also e-tourism project will be started. Meanwhile, citizen card project will be piloted in some cities by Iranian e-commerce scientific association.
